The name "magi" at that time meant "wise" or "priests of the temples of Media and Persia".

Christians who love Jesus Christ , we must remember Christmas like the Gospel says. At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and in the days of "kings" celebrate when the wise men of the East, guided by the star , came to Bethlehem to worship Jesus Christ , who, like Child, was born in Bethlehem.

Thayer's Greek lexicon: a magus; the name given by the Babylonians (Chaldaeans), Medes, Persians, and others, to the wise men, teachers, priests, physicians, astrologers, seers, interpreters of dreams, augurs, soothsayers, sorcerers etc.; cf. Winer's RWB, under the word; J. G. Müller in Herzog, the passage cited, pp. 675-685; Holtzmann in Schenkel iv., p. 84f; (BB. DD., under the word Magi). In the N. T. the name is given:

Friberg Greek Lexicon:17609 ma,goj, ou, o` from Persian magus (great); (1) magus, plural magi, the high priestly caste of Persia; wise man of the Magian religion (MT 2.1); (2) magician, sorcerer, one using witchcraft or magic arts (AC 13.6)

United Bible Society: 3832 ma,goj , ou m wise man (of one trained in astrology and dream interpretation); magician, sorcerer

Louw-Nide Greek lexicon: 32.40 ma,goj, ou m: a person noted for unusual capacity of understanding based upon astrology (such persons were regarded as combining both secular and religious aspects of knowledge and understanding) - 'a wise man and priest, a magus.' ivdou. ma,goi avpo. avnatolw/n parege, nonto eivj Ieroso, luma 'soon afterward, some magi came from the East to Jerusalem' Mt 2.1. In Mt 2.1 ma,goi may be translated as 'men of wisdom who studied the stars.'

25287 Ma,goj( ma,goj
Ma,goj Îa±Ð( ou( o`, a Magus, Magian, one of a Median tribe, Hdt.
2. one of the wise men in Persia who interpreted dreams, Id.
3. any enchanter or wizard, and in bad sense, a juggler, impostor, Soph., Eur., etc.;-fem., Anth. (A Persian word.)

Came not to "worship" Jesus as God, but to see the new King of the Jews.

NOT the kind of people God wants around His and where do Churches put them??????????

Of course they didn't even come to Jesus birth in any case, so the scene (Nativity) with 3 "wise men" (Astrologers, pagan worshipers hated by God) is not only false, but repugnant to God. Another "tradition of men" not God.

Jesus Christ knows when He was born in Bethlehem as man, but the world does not know. And Christians who love Jesus Christ celebrate Christmas day because they want to celebrate it someday.

Now, you who are so wise, do you know what day Jesus was born?

If you do not know what day Jesus Christ was born, then you can not ensure that Jesus Christ wasn't born December 25.

Default The meaning of Christmas is to celebrate Jesus Christ.

How are you going to complain "Santa Claus" if he does not exist?

probably because he knows he is bringing happiness to all of the children in the world.
He does not know anything because he does not exist

He is a good example for all of us.
He does nothing for the people because he does not exist.

He is not a good example because he does not exist.

Those who invented "Santa Claus" do much wrong, because they make the world forget Jesus Christ.

"Santa Claus" is an invention for the world to forget Jesus Christ.

The meaning of Christmas is to celebrate Jesus Christ.

I see Christmas actually as Satan's counterfeit and mockery of God, Christ, and the gospel.

We have Santa Clause, a Man you have to believe in located in the north pole who once a year gives gifts to those that are good. He has a list and checking who is naughty and who is nice. In a funny way, he is offering a type of "works" reward system, very comparable to Satan's "works" salvation counterfeits. Santa competes with "Jesus" on Christmas for attention. An ultimate slap in the face to God.

God on the other hand, provides us a free gift in His Son in the Gospel. It is the most beautiful reality and ultimate demonstration of His love. It is a gift that is not received based upon human merit, but freely given to the undeserving sinner deserving Justice.

So the whole concept of Jesus being born on Christmas, I believe ultimately is Satan mocking God and the gospel. Jesus was OBVIOUSLY not born in December in a manger. It was COLD. This provides fuel for unbelievers to BLASPHEME Jesus. Because it's a bunch of religious foolishness. Once a year go to church to celebrate the birth of Christ? People think that somehow means something to God.

BUT WHAT ABOUT HIS DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION. Christ says to gather and eat bread in remembrance OF HIS DEATH.

We are not told to remember and preach His birth.

With this being said, celebrating the concept that God became Man should be something we reflect on DAILY. So I guess it is nice that at least the incarnation gets some type of recognition. Ultimately though, I think it is Satan's mockery of God, the Gospel, and Jesus Christ as Satan Clause gets all the attention from materialistic Mankind.

Could you tell us you what day Jesus was born? Could you tell me why Christians should not celebrate the day Jesus was born?

All men have whims, and your pleasure is that men do not celebrate the birth of Jesus.

There are whims that then become law, and we have to be careful with those things. The Birth of Jesus Christ is so beautiful, that it is to celebrate every day.

You are completely wrong, because the angels celebrated it, and too celebrated it the shepherds and the Wise Men from the East who came to worship Jesus: (Luke 2:8-14 y Matthew 2:1-11)

That what you say are widespread and are tales that have nothing to do with reality. Christmas is not a tool used by any religion. Christmas is part of the Gospel, that reminds you of the Glorious Birth of Jesus Christ.

The pagan idolaters are those who want to end the Christmas, saying that Christmas is a pagan holiday.

The shepherds would Not have been out overnight in the month of December.

Jesus was 33 1/2 years old when he was put to death on the Spring lunar calendar date of Nisan the 14th day.
That would mean Jesus would have turned 34 in the Fall or Autumn of the year.
The Jews back then did not celebrate birthdays.
Only pagans or non-Jews in Scripture held a birthday celebration.

According to Scripture the only memorial command Jesus gave was for Christians to remember his death.
- see Luke 22 v 19; Ecclesiastes 7 v 1

Christmas is past. Everyone pretty much agrees Jesus was not born on December 25 and Santa is resting at the North pole and unable to defend the accusations of his non existance in this thread
