Please provide a biblical definition for sin. Scripture only please, no human logic, just scripture. I'll check back in a few days for your response.

Thanks and God bless

Amen.

We are dead to the Law if we are in Christ. It cannot try a person twice. The Law is Just. Transgression = death. Grace is forgiveness. Transgression = forgiveness. Therefore we are free from the Law. The Law has no basis for Justification. We aren't saved by works of the Law. We are saved by faith. Faith produces faith-based Works.

The Law is there, but it cannot try us for Justification. Faithfulness to Christ's Law (Matthew 5,6,7, epistles, etc) which expands on the 10 commandments will result in fruitful lives. Unfaithfulness will result in loss of inheritance. We are 100 percent free from the Law in trying us for the death penalty; therefore, we have liberty. The Sabbath is made for man not man for the Sabbath. Observing the Sabbath (or any Holy Day) is fruitful. We have been freed from bondage. If we miss a Sabbath we do not "fall from grace". We do forfeit a blessing.

Every Work and intent of the heart will be judged by the Moral Law on Judgment Day. Our Love for God is demonstrated by the "Obedience of Faith" / "Keeping the Commandments". It is a fruit from not basis for Justification.

It's a shame there's so much confusion. I'd love to find a Messianic fellowship that gets it, but they seem to be attempting to Justify themselves by "Keeping the Law". That is putting them back under bondage which Christ came to free them from.

If law were done away with, then there would be no such thing as sin.
You seem to be eating from the wrong tree Steph, for the opposite of Law is indeed Grace, as we read of the two covenants in John 1:17:

The law came through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

The way in which we appropriate righteousness (or the feeling of acceptance) is either gained by the work of Christ, or by our attempts to keep the law; but let's again look at the choice set before Adam in the Garden - Life or the Knowledge of Good and Evil. That "knowledge" is focusing on the law instead of His provision for all we need. Abiding in Him is letting His life flow through us, and not trying to add to the redemptive work of Christ.

The Children of Israel were led out of Egypt with a mighty hand, fed by manna in the wilderness and even heard God's voice from Mt. Sinai - but God did not harden Himself against them until the point when the Israelites said, "We will do all that you command!"

I'm afraid you'll find no one can quote just scripture and let you figure it out on your own. Everyone will always add their two cents in.

Romans 14:23
And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

condemned (perf. pass. verb, “stands condemnedâ€) if he eats.

The Mosaic Law focuses on Self. Christ's Law focuses on Others. With love service there is no evil. The Sabbath is a celebration of the Creation celebrating God's rest not a burden to "Keep" for believers.

God is holy...and to know Him and for Him to know you...you must be holy...you MUST FIRST! seek His Kingdom and His righteousness...THEN! all these things shall be added unto you...there is no other way.

Jesus said, "If ye love Me, keep My Commandments."
John 14:15 - King James Version.

John, Jesus' precious disciple, who loved Him dearly and faithfully, spoke through the precious Holy Spirit, telling us what this "love" is..."For this is the love of God, that we keep His Commandments: and they are not grievous."
1 John 5:3 - King James version.

In order to have the slightest hope of life eternal, John tells us what is required of us...he states under the power of the Holy Spirit, "And He taught me and said to me, “Confirm my word in your heart; keep my commandments and live, and my law like the pupils of the eyes.”
Proverbs 7:2 - Aramaic Bible in Plain English.

To abide IN the love of God, John teaches us how to be loved by Him..."If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and I abide in his love.”
John 15:10 - Aramaic Bible in Plain English.

The Ten Commandments
Exodus 20:1-20.

And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

*Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
*Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
*Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
***Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, ...nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
*Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
*Thou shalt not kill.
*Thou shalt not commit adultery.
*Thou shalt not steal.
*Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
*Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife,...nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

I pray to God you read these words with an open heart and hearken unto Him who speaks them.

God Bless you.

Love in Christ Jesus,
Verna.

...the gospel according to lee I'll pass.

...instead, I'll stand upon the Gospel according to the Word of The Living God...for He says, "For this is the love of God, that we keep His Commandments: and they are not grievous."
1 John 5:3 - King James version.

blessings.

Where there is love, there is no need for the law for there is no evil to constrain.
