Hello, I will be going to the Windy City for the U2 show at Soldier Field this coming July. Since I am not from the area, I was hoping you all could help with some information. I wanted to know what the best area in Chicago is for the bar/scene. I will probably be staying at a hotel in downtown. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

What sort of bar are you looking for? There isn't a lot close to Soldier Field, but there are some decent places in the South Loop and River North. The Gage is my favorite place on Michigan Ave. for good food and good beer.

Chicago is a huge city, with tons of different types of bars in all neighborhoods.

I've walked to/from this place before and/or after a couple of shows at Charter One Pavillion, which is right next to Soldier Field. Ignore the corny name

Decent food, good beer, and ok rock music since you'll be in the mood.
