I'm considering moving to WP, and found a nice 2BR/1BA place on Schiller, right across the street from Wicker Park. Today (Sunday), parking on the street was a nightmare. I'm wondering how parking would be during the work week, around 6-6:30pm. It's about the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on this place.

It was pretty tight 10 years ago when I did a lot of business in the area. I can only imagine it's become twice as bad since then. Plus people use the side streets as an alternative to pay-parking on Milwaukee and North since most of the side streets around there are not zoned, and I'm sure that's become even more of a problem since the meter rates quintupled.

Yeah, that's true. I could always try heading there around the time I'd be arriving from work & see how parking is. I just wonder if I'm better off finding an apartment with either a parking space or permit parking. Schiller & Damen seems like a pretty awesome location to pass up, right? Or would I be better off finding something else with an assigned parking space or permit parking? BTW, the place is $1200/mo.

What a nightmare that was. I had to jump through all sorts of hoops to get to brunch. From the window I kept watching pedestrian after pedestrian get turned around by some cop. She wouldn't even let this 85 year old guy with a cane pass by.
I'd love to see a run down of where filming permit money goes.

Street parking is almost always a nightmare around there. I used to live very very close to the location you are considering, and ended up renting a parking spot. It get's even worse in the winter. Also, car break-ins are prevalent along the park on Schiller and Wicker Park Avenue. It's not a very car-friendly area at all.
