Thanks Rongoe, sadly I think I will do the same. It's probably the most prudent thing to do anyway.

Unfortunately I did not have the balls to go to court, based on the uncertainty surrounding the Frye case. I took my medicine and paid for traffic school. Still waiting on my license(why the hell do they need that in the first place) and when my class is.

Let us know how court goes. It'll be helpful for future Lidar speeders...

To make sure you go to court or pay your fine.

To avoid this in the future, obtain a bail/bond card from your insurance company or somewhere else. That way you do not have to surrender your license when you are given a ticket.

Is this stuff not taught in Driver's Ed anymore?

Drivers ed was a long time ago, I must've forgot...

I suppose it's a way to get you to pay your fine, but at what cost. In the last three weeks alone I have run into problems; cashing a check at the bank, frequenting the local establishments, giving blood, spending money with a credit card and soon to be for a flight. All in the name of a 135 dollar fine??

And me questioning this isn't that absurd since our neighbor to the north doesn't steal your I.D. for a speeding ticket.

In this line of thought they should take your license plate every time you get a parking ticket.

Bottom line there are others ways to ensure speeders pay their fines other than taking away their identities.

You can get a state ID card in addition to your driver's license.

So you're basically saying that I should be paying an extra $25 each time I get a drivers license in the case that I get a speeding ticket.

I personally don't want to have to pay an I.D. insurance to the state of Illinois. You might, but I sure don't.

$25 every four years is certainly worth avoiding the inconveniences you described.
