I'm looking to start next fall for a masters in either finance or accounting...what kind of options as far as schools do I have in Chicago?

How is Roosevelt University?

I know Depaul and Loyola...how difficult is it to get into those grad programs? Probably pricey because they're private...

Other schools I've found are University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).

There are several threads here about the relative merits of earning a graduate degree with an emphasis in finance or accounting as well as the differences between MBA and Master of Science. There are probably better forums to understand why one might want to pursue something like a MS in Financial Engineering or the other options.

The various rankings that are available should also help one understand why some Universities are worth their tuition and others may not be prudent for the ends you desire.

Graduate level education at the U of C is not for the faint-hearted. If you are not sure then stay away.

Seriously, there are enormous differences in who should do what and why.

If one were only to look at a handful of criteria it is obvious the range of offerings in huge:

MSTAX > Program > Mission

Roosevelt University - Master of Science in Accounting (http://www.roosevelt.edu/business/msa.htm - broken link)

DePaul University College of Commerce - Accountancy and Management Information Systems

Master of Science in Taxation - NIU - Department of Accountancy (http://www.cob.niu.edu/accy/accy_mst.asp - broken link)

Loyola University Chicago- Master of Science in Accountancy (http://www.luc.edu/gsb/academics_msa.shtml - broken link)

^^Chet, I think that he recommended Roosevelt because obviously if the OP isn't astute enough to simply google then he won't be getting in to UofC.
