Believe me, I have many family members that live in SoFlo and pine for back home in Chicago. They love the change in seasons (but not the long cold winters) and the fresh cool air we experience. I had family members from the Atlanta and FL area in a couple weeks ago and they were loving the nice warm (low 70s) sunny weekend weather we had that was not too hot or overly oppressive. The restaurants and food and cultural activities. Many have moved back here to be "home".

Ppl in SoFloriduh are generally dumb, don't listen to them. I know many ppl who go to Chicago for vacation. They probably have never been to a real historic city where many AMERICANS live.

You might also want to take advantage of two other things in Chicago - Improv Comedy and a really large theatre scene.

All great tips, thanks.

The first 3 days are kind of packed with Museums, Aquarium etc.. because I have a 3-day Go Chicago card so I need to see everything I can in 3 days. The bad part about these cards, otherwise very convenient, is that you can visit each location only once, as I found out last month in Ny when I got "kicked out" of the American History Museum.
I know I will only be able to spend a few hours in each location but at least I will have an idea of all these "attractions". I should have probably settle for less and spend more time in each visit, but...I didn't know what to sacrifice..
As for the weather we are still above 90 frigging degrees here in SoFla and I might get a heart attack before actuallly making to this vacation...feel like I want to call the airline and tell them to make that ticket a "one-way"...

Mo-

I am moving to Southern Illinois in a couple of weeks if all goes well. I've just cut and pasted the information on this thread.

I think I will jump on your bandwagon and take in as much as I can on my planned trips to ChiTown in the future.

Well done, please report back...

Bravo my friend--you just inspired my wife and I.

Sorry to hear that, but trust me, the 85-95 degrees is okay but it gets old after 7 months of continuous heat.

Welcome! | Jazz Showcase

Thank you. I see that's at Plymouth and Polk. Any idea how the area is at night, like after a show? I mean, is it safe to wlk to a bus or subway?

Yes, but standard care and diligence is advised. That area can be pretty light on foot traffic at night (meaning if you get mugged there may not be anyone around to help you out), especially the narrower side streets like Plymouth itself.
