I have a volunteer class three blocks from the Cottage Grove green line stop ending at 9pm. Have to take the green line all the way up to the brown, to Northcenter. Is this safe? Any better choices?

Is it three blocks north by the Midway? If so, I'd catch one of the Hyde Park buses to the loop, preferably an express one. It will likely run circles around the green line for travel time to downtown too, sadly.

Are you a female? If so, I wouldn't recommend it. During the day, its no problem but around that time, it starts to get iffy.

Yeah, and besides that it's a branch line on the already lightly-served Green Line...so at best during rush hour you will have 15 minute frequencies. Mostly 20 minute frequencies the rest of the day - and 40 minutes between trains far off peak. Take a bus.
