OK Chicago experts ... I'm in town and will embark on my Hill Street Blues homage this week. So thanks to PP's, I now know the HSB station is at W Maxwell and Morgan. Here's my next q:

This is the opening scene:

At the opening scene the police cars come out of the garage outlined here and make a right.

Then the shot pans out to this. Problem is, Maxwell St ends here and is cut off by the UI Campus. So the question is, did UI absorb these streets and neighborhood or is this a different street that the scene cut to?

Last question. I think the most famous part of the opener is when these cars come around the corner. Where is this corner?

I believe it is a different street they cut to. I would have to be able to watch it to make some sort of really good guess.

But judging by the location of what appears to be the Sears Tower in the top left corner of the third picture, the street in the third picture appears to be Van Buren somewhere between Racine and Morgan.

My guess is Van Buren just east of Racine.
