as far as suburbs go, Niles is ok. but personally, give me a hustling bustling city or give me an honest to god small town. I despise the must-drive-everywhere strip mall hells that are most of the Chicagoland burbs.

Very true....that's why I liked growing up in the Berwyn-Oak Park area (family only had 1 car). One of the few suburban areas that had stuff you could walk to. Niles isn't a horrible place, but it's pretty darn boring.
