It's not as bad there as south of 47th but with the cargo container yard to the west and the old stock yards east from Ashland to Halsted it certainly won't be picturesque. I'd try not to inhale too deeply outdoors. LOL.

if you are a member of or planning to join the Saints gang, than that area is perfect for you.. seriously you would be smack dab in the middle of their hood i mean 45th and paulina just two blocks east is called "psycho side"...and the saints and the latin kings are constantly fighting there
