Hi,
I'll be visting Chicago later this month, during the long weekend, and wanted to know if someone could recommend an area for a hotel, wanted to do some site seeing and shopping, but wasn't sure where to stay in the city.

thanks.

When i visit Chicago, i normally stay at Congress Plaza Hotel http://www.congressplazahotel.com/
located Downtown. It's not a 5 star hotel but on the other hand its very reasonable, clean & safe, which is the only important things to me when staying in a hotel.

You figure you're not going to spend much time in your hotel anyway you're going to be checking out Chi-Town!!!!!

CONGRESS PLAZA HOTEL it's across the street from Grant Park & two blocks from the Art Institute of Chicago.

Nearby Attractions: Navy Pier 2 Miles, Water Tower 2 Miles, Lincoln Park 3 Miles, House of Blues 1 Mile, Buckingham Fountain walking distance, Wrigley Building 1 Mile, Magnificent Mile 1 Mile, Spirit of Chicago 1 Mile.

If you find a place near the Michigan Avenue bridge (where Michigan Ave. crosses the Chicago River), you will be about as centrally located as possible for all of the attractions of the Loop and River North/Mag Mile. The Intercontinental and Hard Rock Hotel are two that come to mind. There are many more, though.

I've always been curious about the Hotel Burnham, which is a boutique hotel in one of Chicago's architectural treasures. But I live here, so I don't stay in hotels.

Are they still on strike? I know that were all winter long and if I was a paying tourist I wouldn't want to be called a scab everytime I walked in the place.

They've been on strike since Venom's been born.

I think its been discussed on here before. But, in addition to having a 90 year strike, the place is a dump.

yeah, i've read some of the reviews about sopping wet carpet, non-functioning shower heads, peeling and mildewed wallpaper uck. i don't know why anyone would stay there since the holiday inn or whatever it is (hilton maybe) right down michigan is the same price with none of the headaches.

I once would have said the Hotel Wacker too, but that's now getting gutted and washed of all seediness...
