U of I is a great engineering school. UIC is probably underrated, but is certainly not viewed as being on the same level as UIUC by anyone in the profession.
You are absolutely right! I'm so in denial, I haven't even been born yet!

And you, my friend, are not only an expert on neighborhoods you've never lived in, you also know all about jobs you've never done!.....not to mention and careers you've never had!

"Top Engineers In The World".

While that may look good on a marketing brochure, I hope you never make the mistake of putting that on a resume, because it has "mooch" written all over it. Depending on how Machiavellian the boss is, it may or may not land you the job, but it is likely not a job you want.

I am also going to venture a guess as to who the "Top Engineers In The World" are........could it be......drum roll.......Charlie Thornton and the gang?

Prolly not. Charlie's quasi-retired, and besides, TT has the "Most CREATIVE Engineers In The World".

Besides, there are a TON of UIC guys there, so you must be talking about some place where they hire only MIT grads and pay them $38,000 a year to start.....Somewhere past the bridge to nowhere......up in the North Pole....and Santa's the major client......

It seems to me that regardless of where you live your commute is going to be long. I don't want to make my husband commute far but with our small budget I am really getting frustrated having to pick and choose what is more important to me. I am use to having it all and not having to choose. This sucks! I just keep reminding myself that Chicago is a fun city.
