We are obviously from out of town (Michigan) and are wondering if this gocery store still exists? I looked around the internet, but did not find a trace of evidence that shows its existence.

Does anyone know where this grocery store is? Or if it even exists anymore?

I forgot if it was in the City of Chicago or in the suburban areas.

Thanks for your help

Here in the Florida and Georgia area there is a Publix, but I wasn't aware they had ever gotten as far up as Chicago but that is undoubtedly what you are talking about. I love them for the special stuff however they can be a little more expensive on the other stuff. You can check out their website and see if they have them in your area.

Welcome to Publix Super Markets, Inc.

On the store locator I didn't see any above Tennesee.

Mmm, I miss my Publix very much sometimes. Once someone backed into my bumper in the parking lot and Publix paid for part of the repair because it happened in their lot. Can't see Jewel doing that.

Plus, gallon size fresh brewed sweet tea.

I don't think I've never seen a Publix outside of Florida. At the very least I've never seen one anywhere near these parts.

The jingle is still stuck in my head from childhood: "Publix, where shopping is a pleasure".

What ever happened to Eagle? I saw one in Ohio recently, but haven't seen them anywhere else for at least twenty years.

Oh, here's the answer to my question on Wikipedia:

Eagle Food Centers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The place I saw in Ohio was a "Giant Eagle", which is apparently a different chain altogether.

Maybe it was "Publix" with an X. How many are there in the Chicago area?

exactly zero ... Publix is the largest supermarket chain in Florida ... They've never had a presence in the Chicago market ...ever ... They really don't need to expand given their dominance in the Sunshine State, and have held their own against the behemoth from Bentonville ..
