Here is a thread on Chow hound about Bosnian and other restaurants.
Slavic restaurants in Chicago - Chicago Area - Chowhound

It seems when I drive on Lawrence east from the expressway there are a number of slavic type restaurants. I don't know if they are Bosnian, Serbian or what.

It seems like Lincoln Square/Ravenswood/North Center, etc. would be a safe bet.

Mostly Serbian.

To the extent that there is a Bosnian community, it seems to be mostly in Edgewater and Rogers Park. Avenger mentioned Budlong Woods, which is about six blocks west of Edgewater. Apparently there is a Bosnian Herzegovenian American Community Center at 1257 W. Devon Avenue (773-764-7014), but cursory research seems to indicate they were mostly involved in settling war refugees so I don't know how useful they are today. There's also a listing for a Bosnian Cultural Center at 445 W Greenleaf Ave, 773-262-2783. Another possible resource is Welcome to the Hamdard Center based in West Rogers Park (contact info at their website). It's worth noting that many of these places seem mostly geared toward the Muslim population -- and on that note, there's also the Bosnian Islamic Cultural Center at 7022 N Western Ave, 773-544-5693 and the Islamic-centric Bosnian-American Cultural Association (BACA, contact info on their website: bosna (http://tribina-bosnjaka.com/baca_eng.htm - broken link)) in the north suburbs. Finally, there appears to be an annual Bosnian-Herzegovenian film festival put on by the Edgewater Film Society, info at Chicago Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film. Hopefully these can point you in the right direction.

I know that you wrote this a long time ago, however, I found it because I was searching bosnian communities in Chicago. I've been living in Livno, BiH for 2 years which is near Tuzla I've actually been to Tuzla several times. But I'm moving back to go to grad school near Chicago next year March 2011. I was just wondering what you found out about the Bosnian community in Chicago. I have learned the local language and would love to keep speaking and just be around people from this area. Any info you can provide would be appreciated, thanks
