I'm working on a series of HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos devoted to Chicago cityscapes at night. I'm coming to a point where I need vantage points from sky scrapers or high rise condos that I can shoot from that is not behind glass or in some sort of observatory. I need to be able to hang my camera over a balcony. I'd like to shoot in a near north location and point south and west. Also from a loop location if possible and shoot from all directions. Does anyone know some locations where I might be able to accomplish this, for free?

Make friends in Marina City. You can get some good river shots from those balconies.

Call me paranoid, but reading about somebody asking about
vantage points this close to election night made me feel a little bit uneasy...

You are right
You reminded me about this time when my wife and I saw a car on fire, so she called 911 because she was concerned that the car might blow up and spread the fire..
The firefighters showed up relatively quick... anyways we told one of the guys that we were concerned about it blowing up.. and he told us that "that only happens in movies"
