Things like density, weather and roads don't bother me so much. Last time I visited I squabbled with my girlfriend over parking the car in one of the 24 hour lots because I didn't want to drive in Chicago, period. Yes, winter sucks, but it doesn't last that long and Iowa winters aren't exactly a walk in the park. Density isn't a problem either, but I know it is for a lot of people. Since I currently live in a bedroom community, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more people around.

A good majority of Iowa is boring, as is Illinois and many other states. However, I love Iowa City's vibrant nightlife and the city in general (excluding the SE side). There's also a decent amount to do in the Quad Cities. Moline and Rock Island both have nice downtowns and downtown Davenport is starting to come around.

Cool. nice post. I can tell you are not from Chicago because you didn't jump down my throat when I was sarcastic to you. I have a friend who got married and was "forced" to move to Iowa. She likes it and also has a great time in the Quad Cities area. She does get mad at me for living so far away and is jealous of the nice weather here.

I'll just let the Chicagoans on this board sit back and admire this statement. I think you'd better adjust the tinfoil on your surfboard--you're about due for some bad reception.
When whinniethezen first showed up I took her at face value that she was interested in learning about Chicago. Gradually she became more and more negative about Chicago, which is fine, but now its clear she's just being intentionally insulting.

OK I take it back. The people that move to CHicago from other places (those with decent schools) they might be avid readers. But the ones who grew up there? They are taught just enough in school to read their tax bills.

you are pretty bright, hun, when I'm insulted I tend to insult back. Even if the "gang" mentality here casts me to the moderator.

Not sure I'm the one that's paranoid, dementor-- nor the one arguing an irrational and losing battle with nearly everyone in this subforum thread.

You may now return to your duties as emcee of this idiotfest.

It's fitting that a Chicago board "troll" would be called dementor!
Whoever he/she is they have certainly demented some folks here.. hehe!

I guess the term "troll" is foreign to me. That must be a midwest term. Out here we call them "hotties"

I think you mean "hon".

Unless, of course, you think that the venerable Sukwoo was one of the Kaiser's boys on the Western Front during WW1.

You're really making this too easy.
