Minimum-wage workers in Illinois are getting a 25-cent boost in pay, to $7.75 an hour.

The raise, which took effect Tuesday, is the second in a four-step wage increase. The hourly wage will increase to $8 next July and $8.25 in July 2010.

well when the minimum wage goes up so will the cost of everything else. If it costs companies more money to make stuff they will raise their costs. So it really does nothing.

Yup. And there will be even more young people in or just out of high school who can't find a first job. Raising the minimum wage makes it too expensive for an employer to hire the inexperienced.
