We are empty nesters, living in DC right now (after 20 years in So Cal, some time in NJ, and now here in DC). Our son and his wife live in Lincoln Park in a high rise. We would like to be close enough to them to help w/ the kids when that time comes, while at the same time want to give them (and us) space. We love city living, however, we want to feel part of a community and a neighborhood. We like eating out, yoga, and are looking to pick up various activities during our free time (TBD). What are some of the things to consider when making this move next year? We have not decided yet between a high rise condo vs. a smaller building condo. Looking for a care-free life, three bedroom condo, and the place needs to be all one level, as my husband has some mobility issues and can't deal w/ stairs. Which area should we look at? Lake View? Gold Coast? Budget is flexible, however, I would like to keep it around $600-700K if possible, with a HOA below $2K/mo at the very highest. Thanks.

You may want to hold off. Certainly don't buy property. Values are likely to decrease as our new Mayor raises taxes and destroys the economy and continues the failed policy of being soft on criminals.

Trolling would be going to forums of a town I dont live in and whining about how horrible it is on a regular basis. I'm just giving an honest perspective as someone who actually lives in Chicago, unlike some trolls.
