Hiruko, thank you for sharing. Evanston is not my typical stomping grounds. But should I find myself there, I know where to go Thank you!

emathias, thank you for sharing some wealth of knowledge!

I DO see Ron of Japan off the expressway when I come into town. I may have to check that out!

Thank you, again!

My recommendation is Sumo Sushi and Hibachi. It's located at 2936 N. Broadway in Lakeview.

The hibachi is cooked in the back, so you don't have the experience of seeing the food cooked at your table.

The food is fantastic and the prices are reasonable.

The cost is kept low, as this restaurant is BYOB.

Master Jay: My recommendation is based on the quality of the food, as well as the bang for your buck at Sumo Sushi and Hibachi.

Nearwest, thank you for your sharing of your experiences. I will hold onto that. There may indeed come a day when it will be just fine, to have a great meal at a good price. I'm always good for turning the experience into something FUN, anyways

Midori is really good. Robert is a great chef. The robert special maki is a winner and everything is good. Not a hibachi place though .

Since this old thread got bumped, I’ll just mention that, while not hibachi,
Toro Sushi on Clark Street in Lincoln Park is so good. Some of the most authentic sushi and bento boxes I’ve had. Such a jewel. Would definitely recommend.

I don’t care that it’s a chain. I love eating at Benihana. I’ve seen lotta recommendations for Ron of Japan on the thread, I’ve only eaten there once, but it wasn’t a particularly good experience. Maybe I need to try it again.
