I would search online for a number and try to call and ask their advice. There has got to be a number to the court clerk or something. I can't believe your father was called. Maybe someone here has a current county summons they can get a number from and DM it to HSH.

I wonder if this is a federal summons rather than a state/county one. You have to appear to be excused? Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of asking to be excused? How are people who are physically unable to be there supposed to request a waiver?

I'd look for phone numbers or other contact information on there to call and talk to someone. If there isn't any, and if I were your dad, I'd basically say "scrooyou, come throw me in jail for contempt. Won't that make for a great media story..." But then, I'm kinda feisty.

And a good lawsuit also.

It used to be if you didn't show up for a county court summons you got called again about a month later. No contempt involved that I'm aware of unless of course you might be faced with that if you continually fail to report.
