Hey Tommy - glad to hear you're off of H and enjoying your time in Chicago. It really is a great city.
Pretty good list though I wouldn't recommend John Barleycorn, Social 25 or Joe's on Weed. Mercer 113 near Social 25 is clubbier but not really a club. Near there is Celeste which is more like a lounge but they have a DJ - not a club but still. Another one not mentioned is Bevy - kind of like a cross between a lounge and a club in a way. The roof at the Godfrey is known as iO Urban Roofscape.
Most of the clubs are either in West Loop, River North, or kind of Bucktown/Lincoln Park kind of area. There's some clubs in Wicker Park like Ohm and Evil Olive (check out their Porn & Chicken night on Mondays - you might like that). There's also some lesser known clubs in some Polish neighborhoods - namely Stereo Nightclub on Belmont Central.
There's also a legitimate, though small nightclub on Division near State called Primary Night Club. There's also a kind of clubby lounge that opened not long ago right next door called Room Seven. The biggest clubs in town will be ones like Y-Bar, Spybar, Soundbar, Underground, The Mid, etc
Also in the summer, there are some high rises with rooftop pools that will have DJs doing parties there. There's also the place at North Avenue Beach which has DJs sometimes on weekends in the summer (called Castaways). You could mention ROOF at the Wit too - on Sundays they have a day club kind of thing. You might also like the Playpen in the lake in the summer which is basically a bunch of boats right next to one another in the lake and partying.

Never thought of John Barleycorn as a "club" -- more of a plastic-Paddy bar. Maybe the one in River North is a different story.
Castle closed a few months ago. Dolphin is also closed indefinitely -- too many people shot there lately.

Yep - I think Castle is becoming TAO which is in NYC and Vegas and known for their celebrity sightings.

Hey guys just wanted to say thanks again for all this good info and suggestions, I'm still clean from heroine use and happier than ever you guys pointed me in the right direction! I got a job bouncing 4 nights a week at the SoundBar!! Lol. It's an awesome club I really love it, feels like just home but girls are nicer and less fights so that's a win win.

good to hear. I use to be a chicago downtown frequent clubber during the republic, buzz, and crowbar years.. I also was a promotion company owner for quite some time until I retired LOL. Im only 27 but when we did go , a few years back .. we always had fun... my cousin DJ's at sound bar...I went to soundbar last time i visited home (chicago) and was actually shocked at how much it changed... that industry is rough and to me, it shaves years off your life lol.... if your strictly business...good..but if you get sucked in, it can ruin your life lol

That's cool - the club is pretty big. I had a bad experience there with some bouncers about 5 years ago, so I hope you're cool if I ever go back (been back twice since then). Hope you see some sleep

Yeah nah I'm one of the coolest bouncers lol long as you don't snuff anybody you won't have any gripes with me. I finally did see some sleep thank God. Getting ready to go there now for tonight's memorial day party
