This is really just a hypothetical question, really. I live in Mount Greenwood and I know plenty about the neighborhoods close to my area. I live between Pulaski and Kedzie (Central Park), and I typically find myself on Pulaski a lot. I pass through these neighborhoods often, but I don't know too much about them. I've been to Zacatacos on 71st and the old Palermo's on 63rd, and since my dad is from the area, I know the most about West Lawn.

I guess my question is, in terms of living conditions, which is safest. Like if I wanted to live there, which neighborhood would you safe is the safest? I know it's typically safer west of Pulaski, so I'm keeping that in mind.

I don't think there's much difference. Anecdotally, when I read about shootings on the far southwest side, it seems like it's usually West Lawn or Clearing though.

So there's not really much difference in terms of safety?

No, they're basically all the same. They're really pretty safe, though not quite as much as they were 20 years ago. Rahm insists that things couldn't be better in Chicago though!

I live in West Elsdon and I can honestly say it's not what it used to be. Would I feel safe walking around at night? Yes. But that's because prior to this, I lived in Brighton Park, as well as the fact that I've lived in West Elsdon for years now. For new comers, it isn't the best place to raise a family.

Oh, so how do you like living in Crown Town?

Never said it was Crown Town, but it definitely isn't ideal for raising a family. Crown town is where I used to live by, which is now taken over by SD's.

I believe Crown Town is defined as the Latin Kings territory, so if it were taken over by SDs, then that part is no longer called Crown Town, and the boundaries changed.

So, SDs may be on 58th street but that isn't Crown Town say, east of Kedzie.
