Any suggestions? Nordstrom's and Brooks Bro's will usually have something that catches my eye, but I was wondering if there was another place or a specialty shop I could try. I would prefer a brick and mortar store.

Style of shoe? Gender (I'm assuming female...)? Price range? Area of Chicago? You left out many important details...

Male
Dress shoes/boots (oxford wingtip)
No price range, but would prefer to keep it under $1500/pair, so no alligator skin or custom made shoes for me.

Under $1500/pair?? Do people really pay more than that for a pair of shoes?

Heck, I don't know. $1,500/pair seems like you could walk in about anywhere...

Not sure. I know that you can spend more than that though. Alligator is $2K/pair and custom are ~ $3K/pair.

Barney's doesn't have the biggest selection, but sometimes they have interesting ones, the same for Nieman Marcus and Sak's. Also Paul Stuart is good for business wear that's got a little more style than Brooks Brothers, including shoes. Cole Haan also has a store on Michigan Ave, you might like some of their higher-end shoes.

Syd Jerome is my favorite local business-oriented menswear store - not a big selection of shoes, but they do have some business ones.

For other local places, I like City Soles in Wicker Park a lot, although I wouldn't call their selection as conservative as it sounds like you're after. Also Styl Shoes in Lakeview.

And I thought my $200 on running shoes once or twice a year was almost overdoing it.
