How is the traffic from Milwaukee to Chicago via 94 if I'm trying to get to uptown in the morning? The drive says its about 1 hr 45 right now but whats the traffic like in the morning? Do I need to add half an hour to the travel time?

Totally depends on the time you leave. During rush hour you might add an hour.

The city traffic between the highway and Uptown could be a problem. There's construction on Foster right now, and Lawrence isn't always great. If it was me, I would take Peterson after getting off the highway.
Where in Uptown are you going to?

Peterson (to Ridge to Hollywood to Lake Shore Drive) and Irving Park Road are definitely your best east/west arterials in the city between the Edens/Kennedy and Uptown.

Lawrence Ave and Ashland Ave. Maybe this isn't uptown, may be a different neigborhood. Where would you recommend getting off of the freeway at? Thanks!

Peterson. Then if you're going right to the corner of Lawrence and Ashland, I'd turn right on Ashland. If you're going farther east, you might consider going to Ridge and turning right there.

Still take Ridge from Peterson, then go south on Clark. Asland will split off of Clark to the right. Ashland and Peterson don't intersect.
