I've been to wakamono twice. First time I did not like it, and second time i went just to make sure I dont like it. And you know what?? I DO NOT like it!

This place is owned and managed by Chinese people, along with the bar next door. Overpriced food, small portions, rude customer service.

Read yelp, and you will know what people are talking about this place!

The only japanese owned and operated restaurant that I really like in chicago is cocoro in old town. Their Omekasi option is out o this world. The manager hails from Hokai'do.

Sai cafe is a solid choice also, owned by a taiwanese.

One of my favourite sushi places in Lakeview is Rise (Southport & Roscoe), right off of the brown line. Their sister restaurant, Shine, is great if you ever venture into Lincoln Park.

Go west to Kaze in Roscoe Village. It's better than anything in Lake View.

Coast Sushi on Damen is delicious (and open Monday) Coast Sushi Bar

Blue Fin in Wicker Park was always good too, but I can't find their Web site. Did they close, perhaps?

Bob San is more in Wicker Park than Bucktown, but I've always liked the owner's food (he also owns Sushi Naniwa in River North). Doesn't hurt the my first sushi exposure was at his first restaurant, Sai Cafe.

I've had decent experiences at Blue Fin. Couldn't find a website, but here is the YELP link.
