Sorry for all my posts, but with my trip getting closer, I keep spending time reading about Chicago events online. I will be in CHI from 11/23 to11/30, so I guess this Festival will be on when I am there? Anybody went? Is it worthy to go, any comment?

It's not amazing, but it's one of those things where if you're there and haven't seen it before, then why not.

Sure, I went once just to see it. It's more geared towards children, but if you're downtown its certainly something to watch. There's also the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on State Street that's in the area on the morning of November 28th.

Make sure to drop by the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza as well, it opens November 26th. I go multiple times a year and get some hot wine, buy gifts and just wander around, eat, etc. It won't be anything crazy for a European person, but it's a great atmostphere.

The 100th tree lighting ceremony is 5pm on November 26th in Daley Plaza as well. All of those events and the light fest are free.

We went a couple years ago with the wife's friend visiting from another country. Unless you have kids, its pretty underwhelming. I'd say its worth stopping by just to see the crowd, but 10-15 min is enough, then go somewhere warm and get a drink.

That said, I agree w/the rest, Christkindl market is great. One of the highlights of Chicago that time of the year.

I'm only finding information about the McDonald's Parade... not Macy's.

Oh you're right, I've never been and just wrote that because I always see the pictures of it going past Macy's. Macy's is in NYC as that's where they're based, McDonalds hosts ours as they're from this area.

I've never gone, although it looks decent, especially if you're already downtown. It gets about 500,000 people, is 3 hours long, gets all the huge balloons, marching bands, a circus opens the parade, lots of horses, etc. It's broadcast nationally, although of course Macy's in NYC is the BIG one that people watch.
