Mainly in West Town, downtown area (Loop and River North), and Old Town.
Last year they hung out at my cousin's fire house in Humboldt Park a lot. My cousin told Taylor Kinney that his wife had a crush on the guy who plays Kelly and asked him to point him out. Taylor replied that he was talking to him!

Austin, New Orleans, nearly the entire state of New Mexico, Detroit, and New York City all have much better incentives and film industries. Chicago needs to learn a lot more from them!

Many major films continue to use Chicago as a setting, but film in Detroit and Toronto.

The film industry in Chicago is not booming but it does have potential.
A whole lot more is filmed in Chicago than New Orleans, Austin or NM regardless of incentives.

Chicago used to offer "incentives" (hence all the 80's Chicago movies), but like many places decided it wasn't worth it. ("Incentives" just means not making movie productions pay their fair share of taxes. Not really fair to those who do have to.) If we ever get as desperate as Detroit, New Orleans, New Mexico, and Canada (i.e. if that's the only way we can get anyone to ever film here), perhaps we'll try again, but as of now it's probably not necessary.

If we want more people to film here I think it's very necessary.

There's a reason why Chicago always makes such a big deal about every movie being filmed here:

Because they rarely do.

It's not necessary to Chicago's future, but it is hilarious whenever I watch a movie that takes place in Chicago but is obviously filmed on a street in Toronto, Detroit, or even a suburb of New Orleans.

I'd also like to see statistics saying that more movies are currently being filmed in Chicago than Austin and New Orleans.

Chicago still offers a tax credit. It's not the best tax credit because it doesn't need to be ; it's a good location.

Michigan/Detroit had an absurd tax credit that the current governor cut when he took office.

The better location you are the less tax credit you need to offer.

Yeah I don't know how you can say they don't offer this anymore. There was a new bill passed in 2008 for crying out loud, to offer tax incentives. Why do you think things started being filmed again in Chicago and why do you think a movie studio was built on the Lower West Side semi recently?

B.S.

Having lived in the aforementioned Austin and New Mexico, trust me when I tell you they make a MUCH MUCH bigger deal about things that are filmed there than Chicago does. In those places I was aware of everything that was being done-- It was the talk of the town. I rarely even hear about most of the things that are filmed in Chicago. It's happening every day here and most people don't seem to care, because it's so commonplace. I often find out about things long after the fact, even with things that were filmed in my own neighborhood.

The only times I see/hear people making a big deal out of filming in Chicago is when major sections of downtown are blocked off.

Funny you should say this...I watched those 4 previous seasons on a laptop sitting on the top of my treadmill...hate to sit in front of TV doing nothing, so I got hours upon hours of exercise, too
