Wow, the green police are here...eeek! (and they seem to need a valium also, lol)

Taxes on garbage and how burdensome those "idiots" make it? Have you read your property tax bill? You might be surprised what the bulk of it is

I found it interesting that there will only be bi-weekly recycling pickups. I guess after sorting out that bulk of recyclables out of the garbage...it will end up overflowing onto the alley. 3 bins fill up quick with weekly pickups, extending that to 2 weeks...scary

Unless it was some nasty food-based trash, 99% of my trash was recyclable. The little bit that did go with it, got sorted in the end anyway.

Where do you live, Pigville? Most of the city seems to have no problem handling the concept of recycling.

Really, how hard is it to sort a bit of trash? It's not as if we're talking about composting here (started that this past summer-it's gross how much food just me all by my lonesome wastes!). Just put the soda/beer bottles, soda/beer cans, cardboard boxes, and newspapers in the blue bins to start. No need to sort these items, just dump them all into the blue bin. Save some money on trash bags to boot. Most cities have been doing this for ages and I was shocked that, when I moved to Chicago, there was no comprehensive recycling program in place. Glad that it's in full gear over where I live.

I wouldn't worry about this person not recycling.
9/10 gripes came from people in neighborhoods waiting to get the blue bins.

Besides, if your neighborhood is anything like mine, the "urban beavers" pick through the trash for anything worth value anyway.

this is what is so funny about the OP's "predicament," most of the City has been clamoring for blue carts for a decade +, as opposed to being shocked and horrified that blue carts have actually been delivered.

Agree here. I'm a recycle freak

Most recyclabes can be compacted. Smash your cans and bottles, fold up boxes before you put them in the recycling bin. We're a family of 4 and we have bi-weekly recycling pickup. Bi-weekly is perfect, it is pretty much full but sometimes a little less or more depending on how much trash we have that week.

Yes, but that requires "work".
