It's a lot easier to build a basketball arena in the South Loop than it is to fix the schools, who's problems are largely due to the people that attend them.
I agree.

Invest in Public Safety yes but education too. We better do a better job of keeping these African American and Latino children in school or we can expect even more crime and gang activity in the future. We can also expect more Income inequality which leads to more crime and more polarization in our society in future. A strong education will help keep many of these kids from running with the gangs.

He wasn't a tourist he had lived here for 30 years before moving. Hard not to believe there is more to the story.

But still, asking for directions on a street at 3am…..no

Asking for directions and letting a strangler in your car…Hell ___ No!

People have to start using more common sense.

Highly unlikely he was asking for directions. The story is complete sketch.

Default the good and the bad

Chicago is like any big city there are good parts and bad parts ,you just to keep your wits about you.I've ridden the subway at midnight and walked through some dicey areas and have never had anybody bother me, never look lost or naive or like some tourist from a small town.Whenever I would take friends to chicago for sightseeing the pan handlers and hustlers would never bother me but would always go for my friends, there is just something about the way I walk and carry myself that tells them to stay away.

I'm talking to a CPD vet of 15 years right now in my house. He said that the city has budgeted 70 million for police overtime next year. I asked him why not hire more cops? Obvious answer.... City doesn't want to pay additional benefits. He says they are understaffed by a good 1200 cops.

Cops are basically gangsters in a uniform... Not a lot of them actually do their job.
