I currently live in Andersonville (off of Broadway and Foster) but I will have a roommate soon and we need a two bedroom apartment. We found on at 4715 N Sheridan (about three blocks east of the Lawrence red line stop) that we really like. How safe is this area? We are two males in early thirties. That being said, I feel completely safe getting off the Berwyn red line every night.

Thanks!

I feel safe in that area. But that's just me. I lived a few blocks from there on Marine and Argyle. I walked through Lawrence in that area many a time. There are some shady people walking around, but meh.

You can find better locations for a 2 BR. That's right about the JJ Peppers, right? There's a halfway house, mental health clinic and homeless shelter all right there.
All it needs if for you to come home stumbling late one night to look like and easy target around there.

The area isn't worth the headaches, especially by that little mall where they've had a couple shootings the past 6 weeks.

Yeah wasn't there a big shooting outside there recently?

That was at Wilson IIRC.

I agree. I think that is a nice building, above the Inspiration Café but that stretch of Sheridan over there is not that great of an area. It might not be unsafe for the average person but I wouldn't want to live over there.

Situated in pretty much the worst patch on the north side. Which is still nothing compared to the worst of the west or south side, but I wouldn't want to live there anyway.

It's fine. Near the lake, near a variety of decent restaurants, near the Aragon, the Riv, the Green Mill, a couple of theaters, etc. I actually like that area quite a bit. I've known a few young single women who have lived in that immediate area without incident. There are some awfully picky people here.
