Visited Oak St. Beach while in town and noticed a lot of broken glass, mostly close to the shore line. I don't recall the beach being in this condition when I used to frequent it back in the 90's? Is the glass washing up from the lake or is it just a bunch of yahoo's busting bottles off hours? Is North Ave beach in the same condition?

Never really liked chicago beaches for the actual beach. It gets bad when the city can't afford to upkeep their beaches. I don't know about this year, but Oak Street was usually decent whenever I went, litter and all.

I was at Oak street beach this afternoon and had no problem, where did you see the glass?

Yeah I've never seen a bunch of glass at the beach. Oak Street beach is always pretty clean whenever I go.

I've never seen more than a little broken glass here and there on any of Chicago's beaches, no more than you'd see on any beach.

I did find an (empty) mini ziplock bag at Ohio Street Beach once with a superman logo on it. Not sure which of the many varied substances would have originally been in it but my guess might be meth, a drug which has a slang name "glass" - is that the kind of glass you meant?

Really? Strange... the shoreline was loaded with broken glass, about 10 feet from the water mixed in with all the stones. We even found little pieces where we were sitting about 50 feet from the water. We were sitting right in front of the umbrella rental.

Anyway, glad to know it's not the norm!
