Lincoln Square/Ravenswood area... is it safe for a girl to live alone on the first floor of an apartment? What about the fact that my AC unit would be hanging out the window, right by passerby-ers?

Thanks!

Never really heard of problems with the AC unit. But theft on the first floor is always easier.

Lincoln square and ravenswood are pretty safe though

I don't know. My friends had a first floor apartment and some perv started stalking his wife. They had to move.

Wouldn't be my first choice.

I'm sure you would be fine, but it makes me a little nervous. If you were my sister, I would try to convince you to not live on the first floor, so I will go with that for my answer.

Good luck!

Yes.

The questions asked on here are ridiculous sometimes.

It's one of those things

Like I wouldn't be alarmed about it, I probably wouldn't think twice should a female friend/sister/acquaintance mention it

However, if asked directly by her about it, I would probably say "why not find a higher floor apartment"

The fact that she was concerned enough to ask me would factor into my response

For the record I don't think it's a big deal, but if it helps you sleep better at night, pun intended, then opt for something else

Im sure. There are many young single girls living on the first floor. lol
Just make sure your windows are locked and blinds down in the evening to avoid people to look inside.

Consider a portable AC (or securely installing your window unit) + window security locks. Lots of tips online.

Theft risk is slightly higher on the first floor, but thieves don't care about your relationship status, age, or sex.

Just make sure you have renters insurance, which is something you should do anyway.
