Are there any Chicago trains that take you to the Indiana casinos, like Ameristar? Are they frequently used? Are the train and its stops sketchy out there?

The Indiana Casinos are sketchy.

If you must go to a casino, go to the new one in Des Plaines.

There are buses to all of the Indiana casinos, and possibly the one in New Buffalo, from Chinatown.

What does that mean? You just throw that out there with no explanation. What's wrong with the Horseshoe, for example?

It's a Amtrak stop(Hammond I believe) directly outside of Horseshoe...

Amtrak stops right by Horseshoe but isn't that frequent. You could also take the South Shore Line train to Hammond, but you better call up a taxi to take you the last mile or two up to Horseshoe. Actually, the South Shore Line may have an East Chicago stop near Ameristar as well.
