If it meant the slow zones that have been there for going on a decade now would disappear in 5 months, I bet many if not most would accept a temporary shutdown.

One bright side to this is that the flash mobs won't have such a direct route to Mich. Ave. Maybe this is a way to get the problem under control. Each year it seems to start earlier and get worse with those kids, hopefully this will help.

They will come any way.

If the Black family would have stayed together and pushed for better education I don't think we would be having this conversation.

We can't have a thriving city with 40% of the people not part of it. We need everyone being educated, nurtured and working!

And do you really want to make those comments about south siders? What did they ever do to you?

And for the record, there is intelligent life beyond 35th Street. The 95th Street red line station is the busiest station outside downtown Chicago. It serves a huge area.
I have not been to Canada but the Ryan is 14 lanes wide in some parts and it is hard for me to believe there is a bigger highway anywhere else. But I could be wrong.

That would be a waste of money. Bus service is fine for anyplace beyond 95th.

No, JBV is 100% correct. The 401 near Toronto is, at it's widest, 18 lanes:

Freaky huge for sure.

A south suburban woman who said she frequents shops on the Magnificent Mile was robbed of tens of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry Wednesday.

The 68-year-old woman, who asked that her name not be publicized, said she was surrounded by a group of young men on the 700 block of North Michigan Avenue and ordered to hand over her jewels.

Unclench. The police (and video cameras) said it never happened.
