The Chicagoland Metro population is 9.8 million so don't exaggerate. My guess is only about 4 million are running or biking it on any given Saturday. That's barely over 40%.

I've biked the entirety of the trail a few times

i don't recommend it unless you have an insatiable appetite for agony

You found even the South Side portion to be agony? Even on a nice weekend day I don't find it to be too bad down there.

My bike workout laps are from Olive Park to Bryn Mawr, an exact 7 miles!

Running is a pathetic sport. Sometimes I see people struggling to run. And in the cold season when they shut off the water fountains it's hard to bring water if you're a runner.

When I lived at 14th and Michigan I rode my bikes often on the south end of the trail, usually between 12th St. and 63rd St. Sometimes I'd range up to the river but never north of it, too many jerks north of the river. I liked stopping for a cigar at the promotory at 55th St., sometimes I'd take a dip in the Lake off the rocks there.
