My son (1 year old), my wife, and I will be visiting Chicago this month. We fly up on a Friday and I have a meeting with an organization until 2:00pm. Our flight does not leave until 7:00pm the next day. I was wondering if anyone had ideas on what would be fun to do. We will be staying in downtown Chicago Friday night. We know that we would like to visit the Navy Pier, but beyond that, we were looking for some suggestions any thoughts?

Random fun things to do with 1 year old in possibly wide range of temperature / weather conditions is very difficiult to predict, especially without knowing where you are coming from / what sorts of activities you can't get enough of...

Any of the museums are a good visit. The Field Museum, Art Museum, Shedd Aquarium, etc. Another idea is to go up to the top of the Sears (Willis) Tower or John Hancock. The weather is cold right now so you want to limit any outside travel. I would suggest you buy a 2 Day CTA pass at Jewel Osco to use. That way you can travel cheap since I doubt you will be renting a car.

I would have suggested you visit Millenium Park but its outdoors so your son may get fussy. It is right next to the Art Museum if you want to kill two birds with one stone.
