I'm looking for help on bringing this guy and organization down. They sell A LOT of fake tickets and steal a lot of people's hard earned money.

I bought tickets to a Bears game and found out they were fake. I setup another e-mail address and emailed the same guy's Craigslist ad and he replied and said he still has the tickets (wow).

I'm wondering if the authorities will help me bring him down. Fake tickets to Bears games have made the headlines... and the team even made an official announcement on their website about it.

All it would take would be for me to setup another meeting with him using this fake e-mail address. Tell him to meet at X location and I'll have cash in hand... and waiting there would be police waiting to arrest him.

I have all the evidence from e-mails, pictures of the tickets, pictures of his fake ticketmaster receipt, text messages, and the actual fake tickets I spent hundreds of dollars on... it's enough to get him arrested and convicted for sure.

My question is, how do I get the Chicago authorities involved in this? I can't wait to bring this guy down

Your safest bet might be to get the local police involved and have them set up a sting operation on this guy. Looks like you have more than enough evidence & clues to get this guy nabbed. Guessing you're in the city & not the suburbs, correct?

Default Should be interesting to hear how this goes...

I have relatives that are Chicago cops. The general attitude of CPD from the freshest recruits to the most senior command level officers is that non-violent crime that involves non-felony amounts (under $500) gets very little manpower. It would curious to see if they want to get a civilian involves in a "sting"'even if the multiple thefts would amount to a felony.

Let us know how this goes!

Will keep everyone posted. This is definitely way more than $500... the guy/organization made $800 off me alone and has hit several others for more.

I don't think we need to get any civilians involved... I'd like to just set it up and have the seller meet somewhere public where police are there waiting to detain him. No civilians involved at this point.

I have a feeling that they won't care that much because of all the other violent crime and killings in the city. Its the same reason they don't really write many tickets. Were they actually hard copy tickets? Do you have a link?

You might also try contacting the Bears organization, they have an interest in shutting down operations like this.

Hopefully this scam artist's mugshot will be making its way onto the Chicago Tribune website pretty soon. Even if he gets caught though, I'm not sure how exactly you can go about getting your money back.
