I think maybe you guys are spoiled or you have a source for new hip hop. I mean some hip hop station keep songs in rotation for like six of seven months n I know CC OWNS THE STATION BUT the program director makes the final call on what is played or so I have read..but like I said I think you you heard some of the other big cities playlist you might see gci as a better station.

I agree. Milwaukee only has one true urban station (100.7), and I will say that it is decent, and just about as solid as WGCI, but with less entertaining VJ's & morning shows.

Detroit's urban radio scene was an utter disappointment in comparison to Chicago. They definitely play the same tired few songs over & over in Detroit. It's pretty sad because Detroit has birthed a lot of classic urban music over the years (Motown of course, but more recently a ton of great underground & mainstream hip hop during the last couple decades, etc.).

The coastal cities seem to have very good urban stations (NYC has a few to choose from, Hot 97 being the most famous....LA definitely has some good stuff and you may be more likely to hear some good regional stuff. Not sure about the Bay Area.)

Anyone know about the Atlanta, Miami & Houston urban radio scenes?

Is DJ Pharris still on at night? He has some good mixes and he use to do Throwback Thursday. It was like a breath of fresh air .

Blah. It's good for testing the settings on my sub, I'll give it that.

On their HD signal they have a secondary channel that does classic hip-hop/R&B, which is pretty digable.... and me saying so merely reinforces SWPL's observation about white people and black music...

Atlanta has a very weird formula going on there. The biggest dislike about Atlanta is their lack of reggae dancehall or other regions music. There are two urban stations V103 & Hot107.9 neither of them are CC stations...which someone here mentioned as a flaw characteristic. LAs Power 106 is the lamest station I have ever heard in my searches. The station with Big boy on it. I downloaded the iheartradio app to my phone and that is how I heard WGCI and like I said I heard a few new songs so I saved it to my favorites. The two stations in Miami are ok too, but they can sometimes go a lil too hard on the reggaeton. I have no clue who is the best on the west coast...I know it cant be Power106...that station is garbage.

V100 in Milwaukee is GARBAGE. That is, if you like listening to actual hip-hop or rap and not R&B, considering 80% of the stuff they play is R&B. WGCI is alright, but I think Power 92 is much, much better.
