If you mean past Howard southbound, the answer is yes. It only runs south during an expanded rush-hour period, and only to the Belmont station. During these times, it runs express between Howard and Belmont with no stops in between. The exception is during Cubs night games where it will also stop at Sheridan. It runs from Howard north during all scheduled hours.

I wanted to correct this piece of information above. I meant to say it runs express to Belmont only. After it reaches Belmont, it continues to and around the Loop and then back north, but from Belmont south to the Loop, and then from the Loop back to Belmont, it stops at all stations. Then from Belmont to Howard it runs express just as it does vice-versa. That said, the fact that it stops at all stops south of Belmont is neither here nor there for your commute up to Northwestern.
