It seems like in Chicago a lot of women go out to eat with their girlfriends for fun. Do guys do this also and to BYOB places etc? Most guys I know just go to bars to hang out, and women go out for dinner, but maybe its just the people I know. Seems like BYOB is the way to go though because its cheaper alcohol and better food, but I tend to go out to watch sports at bars etc and feel like i'm missing out on a lot of good restaurants.

I'd have to concur, I'm a guy, and I don't meet my guy friends for dinner often, mostly go watch a sports game and grab a plate of chicken wings or some other bar food. I do have one male friend that occasionally goes to regular restaurants with me.

I haven't been to half the restaurants I would like to go because I don't have anyone regular to go out with. I do one-off dates but no g/f. And no, my and my guy friends never go out for dinner. Rarely anyway. Maybe a drink and a burger at a bar, but never anywhere where the sole purpose is the meal.

Have you tried suggesting it? Why wouldn't a group of guys go to a nice restaurant together?

I think some guys aren't comfortable with the level of male/male intimacy required to go to dinner with a male friend and sit and talk. They are more at ease in a loud bar with distractions and sports to watch.

I honestly think it is a guy thing. Women seem more ok going to dinner with their same sex friends.

Great idea, why didn't I think of that!

Have you EVER tried to get my group of friends to agree on doing ANYTHING besides going to the bar?

Let me know when you do.

Let's see.... sledding, bowling, whirlyball, auto show, seeing live bands, and some house parties, and that is all since the start of 2012.
