I'm considering moving into the neighborhood, but I'm not too familiar with the area. Any certain areas/blocks to avoid?

Generally speaking, northeast of Milwaukee is better than southwest, and north of Fullerton is generally better than south. It's still particularly gangland-ish west of about Kimball and south of Fullerton. No part of Logan Square is unlivable these days but quality of life can vary depending on which part of the neighborhood you pick.

I was there for 3 years and along the blvds seemed the nicest areas. Kedzie between Fullerton and the circle and then Logan out to the east of there. Easy access to the Blue Line.

As was stated earlier, it felt nicer if you were east of Kimball (I always said east of Kedzie) and north of Fullerton.

West LS is still pretty troubled. The gang activity is detrimental enough, but the petty vandalism and thievery that goes on is the biggest problem. The schools score amongst the worst and the student bodies often rank about 80% low-income.

It is not by any means an unliveable hood, but it requires urban street-sense and thick skin. Just like a lot of Chicago does.

There is nowhere in Logan Square I would avoid going to, but I wouldn't live in the Westernmost parts of the community area, which extend all the way west to Fullerton/Pulaski. Primarily because of property crime. Definitely any area northeast of, along, and even immediately southwest of Milwaukee area is a good bet. The crime rate will not be as low as Norwood Park/ suburbia, but I would definitely put it in the safe category relative to most parts of the city nowadays. Kimball is an okay rule of thumb, but I'd say the transition is somewhat more gradual, and that for anywhere west of Kedzie, I'd look at the individual block if crime is a big concern.

A little rough but mostly fine. The serious gangsters have been largely pushed out of that area by a brigade of designer-breed dogs and their owners.

I have a question. I might move to the apartment around Hamlin & Wrightwood and wanna know if this area is safe and have no issue walking straight on Wrightwood ave from Logan Square station at nights.

you might have no problems but stupid petty stuff builds up near you and will bother you, like vandalism, thiefs breaking into yards and stealing bikes, or shootings on nearby blocks. During the morning and afternoon, your ok to walk but i would not walk around at night over there especially unescorted. Im not saying a mob of gang members is going to beat you down, but someone could take your purse and run or you could be just walking and or a gang dispute could occur right in front of you. However, the 14th district Chicago Police patrol the area and are pretty proactive with making their presence known so you should be ok.
