Would anyone happen to know if there is any apartments with move in specials with the first months free? Please respond, and if not maybe some apts that are only 5-6 a mo or some good deal. I live in schaumburg, and im getting a divorce. Id like to move to chicago to start off fresh. Im 27 live with my family, ready to move tom. Thanks in advance,

I would say that the one month free is more suburban and I haven't seen it in the city. Just keep looking on craigslist or use a search service to find in your price range. The nice apartments can go fast so there aren't too many out of this world move in specials.

Not many move-in specials in the city these days, reason being that it's a landlord's market and rental vacancy rates are low. A few years ago we had a soft rental market for awhile, much higher vacancy rate, and many complexes were offering one or even two months' rent free, but those deals have pretty much dried up now.

Check the ads carefully, though... occasionally you could find a place that is offering low (or no) security deposit.
