I'm commuting to Oak Brook from Beverly via 294. My normal schedule is 8-4:30 M-F. What do you think that will be like?

I am not sure what the time will be, but it is a pretty long street drive to get to 294 from beverly and then a good drive from that far south to Oak Brook. I honestly wouldn't recomind this commute. I am guessing atleast an hour.

Ok now I am confused are you trying to get to Beverly or Oak brook or are you looking for places to live to have a sane commue to Oak Brook? The better places to have a sane commute would be the west burbs or south west burbs near 294 but not as far south as beverly.

Myself, I'd go west on 95th street to I-294. Stay within the flow of traffic, however. Some of the villages like to give out speeding tickets. What will this be like? Consider leaving early for work and leaving work about 5:30 or so.

Unless there is some reason to move to Beverly beyond commute I think it is very likely that your commute from Glenview is EASIER to Oak Brook than commute from Beverly to Oak Brook.

It would make A WHOLE LOT MORE SENSE to rent in someplace like Elmhurst or even Oak Park for a job in Oak Brook than Beverly....

Is there some reason that you skipped over those much better options????

An hour sounds right on most days. I have a similar commute, but a bit shorter. I go from Oak Lawn to Willowbrook, and usually take 294. 95th St. is slow, but there aren't many alternatives. Perhaps 99th St. or 103rd St., which will take you as far as Central Ave. It usually takes me about 10-15 minutes to get from 95th and Central to the Tri-State. Then about 15 to 20 minutes to the Stevenson, where I exit. It's typically about 30 minutes total most days. From Beverly, add at least 10 more minutes on 95th and 10 more minutes on the tollway, for a total of about 50 minutes to an hour. However, maybe a couple times a month there is an accident or weather issue, which could easily push your commute to an hour and a half. Be sure and check the traffic reports before you set out.

Most of the jobs in Willowbrook are very close to the relatively easy to deal with exits at County Line Rd or the "artetial portion" of Rt 83 from the Stevenson and parts of Oak Lawn are pretty convenient to the 95st ramps of 294. A 35 minute commute is pretty tolerable. What I worry about for the OP is that even if they can take advantage of 294 the distance to get their is going add at least 10 minutes if they don't get stuck behind a bus or held by rail crossings, throw in both of those and I know that I have spent much more than ten minutes onnthat end of the trip. Once they get close to Oak Brook the range of commuters that may also be exiting from 294 onto surface streets and / or other tollways / controlled access highways (like 83 is at 88)
Can REALLY put a crimp inn the last few miles of profess, especially as roadway grinds along...

The distance is no where near doubled but I suspect travel times could be.

No need to guess or ask for anecdotes. The part on I-294 will take 20 minutes, with very little variation.
