for up and coming and CHEAP, check out East Humboldt Park. You'll find some great deals and you're close to Wicker Park, Logan Square, Ukrainian Village. You have buses that run on California, Division, and North ave. So it isnt as bad as people think.

Not a whole lot to go off of. Assuming an average salary range for non-investment banking college graduates, you would probably want to start by looking at places like Lincoln Park or Lakeview. If you're working downtown as long as you are pretty close to a L stop, the commute downtown won't be bad.

If you are working longer hours or you want to live downtown or closer to downtown (areas like the Loop, West Loop, River North, Gold Coast), those areas are more expensive, but there are definitely some hidden bargains. The more affordable apartments in those areas tend to be older, less modern buildings and you may have fewer amenities, but you may be in a better location depending on what you're looking for.
