Hi,

We are moving to Chicago on the 1st of September. We visited in early July and the weather was beautiful and warm but I'm not sure what to expect for September. As most of our belongings are being shipped we won't have a lot with us until mid October. I therefore need to pack wisely and was wondering what kind of clothing I'll need for September and early October?

Thanks.

September's generally still pretty nice, think 70s and lows in mid 50s. As the month goes on and october comes it starts getting a bit chillier--I would mostly plan on the above temps (with the occasional warmer 80s and even 90 occasionally) but have a few sweaters/jeans etc for October.

IMHO, this is the BEST weather of the year in Chicago.

Labor Day weekend always packs surprises (heat, humidity, t-storms, or perfectly clear days), and very early September can be hot (a few high 80's, low 90's). But mid September to mid October -- bliss!
We usually get some "Canadian air masses" with cool dry air.

As previously stated, highs in the 70's, lows in the 50's.

Good luck with the move and enjoy the weather while you can!

Yeah, September is a toss up. Most of the month is perfect however...

Again, it is a toss up. Can be pretty hot still, but can also dip down and start to get cool. Chicago weather in unpredictable!
