Just curious as to how long everyone's commute is to work? Also from where to where?

My new commute is an hour, and I am definitely looking to relocate closer to work. It's from Avondale to Edgewater and while these neighborhoods aren't that far, I have to rely on the bus (two buses) which why it takes so long. I am thinking of moving to Lincoln Square come August to relieve some of that commute. Ideally would love to live walking distance to work, but I just don't like Roger's Park, Edgewater or Uptown to live in. As for now, gonna start riding my bike until it gets fixed which should cut the commute in half!

Why not Andersonville? You don't like it?

No, I don't like Andersonville, at least not to live. It's just not 'me' or my style. I want to try to stay as far south as possible and somewhat west, because most of my family lives on the northwest side like in the Irving Park and Portage Park neighborhoods and I visit them frequently. Also, I like to go out in Logan Square, Bucktown, and Wicker Park, and it's easier to get to those neighborhoods and quicker in a place like Lincoln Square or Roscoe Village (which I am also considering).

Living by Damen is essential to me, which is the bus that I need to get to work, and also where I like to hangout (ie. UK, WP, Bucktown). The only advantage Andersonville has is that it's close to the lake, but really, I can use it what, like 4-5 months out of the year? There just isn't anything really for me in Andersonville that I want. I mean don't get me wrong, great neighborhood, but not interested.

I just started my new commute, but so far it's been about 15-20 minutes. (Hyde Park to Michigan Ave in the Loop)

If you don't like Andersonville, I'm not sure why you would like Lincoln Square or Roscoe Village.

Sorry, never answered. My commute to work downtown from Andersonville is about 30-40 minutes door to door on the red line.

I like Roscoe Village because I was raised there and because I just find the bars, restaurants, to be more to my liking. Same goes with Lincoln Square. I also think Roscoe Village and Lincoln Square are much more charming than Andersonville. I don't dislike or hate Andersonville, I just have no interest to live there.

20-30 minutes to work via 134 from LP to Wacker/Adams. More like 45 minutes to get home usually.

Previously drove from LP to Oakbrook. Took an hour at least each way.
