Oh, sorry there tonythetuna for not meeting with your approval, I'm going to weep in the corner now in shame of my inauthentic 'chicagoness' (whatever the hell that is) ... nah, I think I'll walk over to Piece, drink some fancy beer, and eat some clam pizza in anticipation of my trip out east next month, and think of you.

Although, he's definitely a bit of a hipster (which, I suppose makes him perfect for this ward), I'll give you that, if the article below is anything to go by, and no, I did not vote for him because we share the same taste in music

I eat tons of sugar and am not fat. It's called, get your lazy ***** to the gym and lift some g.d. weights. Perhaps if the gov. would grant gym memberships as a write off on our 1040s more folks would sign up and actually go. Can't tell you how many folks I see start working out even in their mid 50s - mid 60s and are fatties to start, but after a year of working out and actually trying, are very fit now. There's about 25 examples that come to my mind just at my gym alone. Know of one guy who I swore was in his 30s only to find out 2 weeks ago he's 58!

And Drover I think it's a totally valid one.

There are posters here to whom every tax is a bad tax. I don't know enough about this one to say for sure, but given how long its been at its current price, there's certainly, if not an argument for doing it, at least less argument for not doing it.
No, his point was a side-stepping from reality to fantasy.

I manage a measly ~7 million worth of budgets every year, and this idea that every outlay can be directly tied to a revenue source is a pipe dream, life doesn't work that way in my world, much less at a level of a municipality the size of Chicago.

on the corn fuel issue:

Rethinking the Meat-Guzzler - NYTimes.com

Grain, meat and even energy are roped together in a way that could have dire results. More meat means a corresponding increase in demand for feed, especially corn and soy, which some experts say will contribute to higher prices.
This will be inconvenient for citizens of wealthier nations, but it could have tragic consequences for those of poorer ones, especially if higher prices for feed divert production away from food crops. The demand for ethanol is already pushing up prices, and explains, in part, the 40 percent rise last year in the food price index calculated by the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organization.

I've lived in the Chicago area for over 35 years (city and burbs for about equal amounts of time), and it's home to me bud. So get used to me sticking around and messing up 'your' city.

Not a bad idea at all, but some will scream it's socialism!
