Hello,

I was curious if anyone knew the usual commute time from Roscoe Park in Chicago to Schaumburg, IL? My usual start time for work is 9 AM and I leave work at 5:30 PM.

Also, I have an option to start at 9:30 AM or 10:00 AM for work, am I better off pushing my start time to 10 AM to hopefully reduce my time in traffic or does it not make a difference?

Alternatively, if I do go with the later start time, will a later end of work time of 6:00 PM (Which goes with the 9:30 AM start time) or 6:30 PM end of work time (Which goes with the 10:00 AM start date) be a wise move to reduce traffic coming back into the city?

Thanks so much for your help and advice.

This is a pretty common question. The answer, however, is that you'll eventually end up hating your life with the commute.

Either live with an hour + commute either way, or move closer to work.

By "Roscoe Park" I presume you mean Roscoe Village. Anyway, this question or some variation of it is a well-worn theme here. Here's some threads that will give you basic information about a commute such as this:

To add injury to insult, they just began a major construction project on the tollway that's bound to make a commute like this even more hellacious than it already is.

You can also check actual times by looking at travelmidwest.com

Here's a chart showing actual travel times, at different times of day, for your trip.

Good stuff.

With as many questions we get about commuting to Schaumburg, you'd think there'd be better transportation options. Shame.

There is no "Roscoe Park." Google needs to get their S together.

As mentioned by above, it is assumed you are speaking of Roscoe Village.

There has been talk of extending to Blue Line to Schaumburg, not creating a new line. If it ever does become a reality it will probably take 5-10 years after the decision to build.

Not serious talk though. Besides Schaumburg is much too far for the Blue Line to travel to. It does have a Metra station but for that option you'd have to go downtown catch the train and then hope your office runs a shuttle from the station to the office park. Probably a lot more time consuming than driving.

Why is it too far? Do you know how far the Red Line is going to go after it is extended?
