I asked this in the "world forum" as well. My gf is originally form Poland, visiting the states because she owns a condo here. Does she have to go back to Poland after the alloted time she can stay here on her tourist visa, or does she simply have to leave the country (anywhere) for a certain time? If she can go to any country, how long does she have to stay out of USA? For example could she go somewhere closer, like the Caribbean?

If her immigration status hinges on the answer, it'd be best to get professional advice.

Based on what I've seen, there's usually both a time limit for length, as well as a total days per year limit but it varies. In all the cases I'm aware of, she wouldn't have to be in Poland, just not in the U.S. Most of the people I know in similar situations just go to Canada.

Well, she can stay as long as she wants to be honest. The Department of Immigration and Naturalization does not actively pursue individuals who are beyond their visa limits. The rare instances where they do have been targeting employers with illegal help. As long as she stayed out of legal trouble she would be fine.

That being said she wouldn't be able to work, and if something were to happen she could be deported. If she stays past her expiration date it's not like someone is going to show up on her doorstep though.

Beyond that I'd do a little research online and find out the legality of it all.

You should probably ask in the Legal Immigration forum. I'm not sure how 'owning a condo' is a valid reason to be granted a B visa, but whatever. Note that if it looks like she is trying to live here, she could get a 10 year or even lifetime ban.
